If you’re planning a hunting trip, you need to pack for it. Ideally, make a checklist on a piece of paper and list all the items you want to bring. Things like your phone, toothpaste & a toothbrush, boots and rain gear should be on the list. And, for hunting, you might need to bring a license, permits, tags and/or legal docs if the specific area requires such things.
Hunting Gear
Hunting gear that you might bring on a hunting trip can include camo clothing, boots, gloves, a reliable knife, binoculars, a rifle, bow or gun and a waterproof backpack to carry things. It’s also a good idea to carry navigation tools such as a map, compass, and/or rangefinder. And just in case you’re in the dark, have a flashlight and/or headlamp with you, too. Hey– you never know!
Medical Supplies
What if you get hurt “out there?” Pack a first aid kit with some essentials like bandages, medical tape and pain relievers. Don’t forget your prescription meds. It’s also a good idea to pack some food (like granola bars) and water with you.
Communication Devices
These days people stay in communication with each other via cell phones, but you, as a hunter, might also want to pack a two-way radio or satellite communication device if you’re hunting in an area that has spotty phone coverage.
Items for Sleep Comfort
If you plan on sleeping overnight outdoors, bring a tent or hammock and an insulated sleeping bag. You might as well pack some survival tools, too– just in case. Fire starters, waterproof matches, a tarp and/or an emergency signaling device come in handy if you need them.
When taking a guided hunt, you have someone who’ll advise you on what to bring for your specific hunt. That’s a good thing– and if you’re coming to Tioga Ranch, you can call and ask what you should pack. The number is 570-835-5341.
